Gold’s sitting at $4,425.09 as of Tuesday’s London fix, up $27.05 and change. The metal pushed to a high of $4,429.88 in early Asian trade, got sold back to $4,383.85, then spent the afternoon grinding higher. That’s a $46 range, and it tells you everything about the tape right now. Nobody’s committing. The bid’s there, but the offers are stacked too. We’re consolidating, and the longer we do it, the bigger the eventual breakout.

Gold Price Today Opens Firm, Then Chops Through the London Session

Opened at $4,398.04, which was already a gap up from yesterday’s close. The early buyers came in hard, probed $4,429.88, and found the algos waiting. Classic sell-the-spike behavior. We pulled back fast, tagged the lows, and then the dip buyers showed up. That’s the second time in three days we’ve seen that $4,383 area hold. It’s getting worn out as a reference point, though. Each test weakens it.

The afternoon session was pure grind. Range tightened to about $8. Volume’s thin, typical for a Tuesday after a long weekend state-side. I’d argue the real action starts tomorrow when the US cash session gets full participation. What we’re seeing now is the market positioning itself, not making a statement.

Order Flow and Liquidity Pockets in Gold Today

Here’s what I’m watching on the microstructure. The $4,429.88 high sits just below a big option barrier at $4,430. Market makers are going to defend that level unless we get a genuine surge in buying. Stops are likely clustered above it, maybe 10 to 15 bucks north. If we break through, that’s a short squeeze waiting to happen. On the downside, the $4,383.85 low has stops below it, but they’re thinner. The real liquidity pool is down at $4,372.99, our second support. That’s where the algos will look for bids if we crack the first level.

Key Levels for Gold Price Tuesday, 08 September 2026

Here’s the board, plain and simple. These are the numbers I’m trading off, and so should you.

  • Current: $4,425.09
  • Open: $4,398.04
  • High: $4,429.88
  • Low: $4,383.85
  • Range: $46.03
  • Change: +27.05 (+0.62%)

Support Levels for XAU/USD

Support 1 sits at $4,383.85. That’s today’s low and the pivot from the last two sessions. It’s held twice, but the retests are getting shallower. Support 2 is $4,372.99. That’s a stronger floor, built on the prior week’s consolidation. If we lose $4,383, I’d expect a fast move down to $4,372.99, where the real bids live.

Resistance Levels for Gold Today

Resistance 1 is $4,429.88, today’s high. It’s also the option barrier zone. Break that, and we’re looking at $4,447.46, which is Resistance 2. That level hasn’t been tested since late last month. It’s a big one. A daily close above $4,447.46 would flip the medium-term structure bullish. Until then, we’re rangebound.

The Macro Picture Is Pushing Gold Price Action

The dollar’s been the main driver. DXY is off its highs, giving gold a tailwind. The yield curve’s doing something weird again, with the 2s10s flattening. That usually helps the metal. But there’s a counter-force: real yields are still sticky. The market’s pricing in a hold at the next FOMC, and that’s baked into the price. The question is whether we get a hawkish surprise.

Central bank buying is still the quiet bid underneath everything. The official sector’s not selling, and that’s a structural support that never shows up on the intraday charts. It’s the reason I lean bullish on dips rather than bearish on rallies. That said, the physical demand from Asia has cooled a touch. The premium in Shanghai shrunk last week. Not bearish, just less aggressive.

What to Watch in the Sessions Ahead

Keep an eye on the US PPI print tomorrow. If it comes in hot, the dollar pops and gold gets sold. If it misses, we’re probably testing $4,429.88 again. Also watch the oil market. Crude’s been quiet, but any geopolitical uptick there tends to spill into gold flows. I’m not trading the news, I’m trading the reaction to the news. That’s where the edge is.

Verdict: Gold Price Today Needs a Catalyst to Break the Range

I’d call this a bullish consolidation. The higher low from last week is intact, and we’re holding above the $4,400 psychological handle. But the market needs a trigger. Without one, we chop. My lean is for an upward break, and I’ve got bids in below $4,383.85 to protect against the alternative. If we close above $4,429.88, I’m adding length. If we lose $4,372.99, I’m out. That’s the trade. Simple, defined, and I’m not overthinking it.

The setup’s decent, but it’s not a gift. Respect the levels, keep your stops honest, and let the market tell you what it wants to do. Gold’s in no hurry, and neither am I.
