Bitcoin’s grinding higher this morning, and honestly it feels a bit reluctant. We opened the session around $64,010, dipped down to test the $63,880 level that’s been acting like a magnet, then clawed our way back up to $64,630. That’s a gain of roughly 0.97% on the day, but the path here wasn’t clean. It never is.
The range we’re working with is about $1,145, which is decent for a Wednesday night into Thursday morning but not the kind of volatility that gets the adrenaline going. The high touched $65,025 before sellers stepped in. That’s the number that matters now. We’ve tagged it once and got rejected. The question is whether we’ve got the fuel for a retest or if that was the ceiling for this move.

Key Levels
- Current Price: $64,630.00
- Open: $64,010.00
- High: $65,025.22
- Low: $63,880.00
- Range: $1,145.22
- Change: +620.00 (+0.97%)
That low print at $63,880 bugs me a little. It’s a round-ish number that a lot of traders will have their stops sitting under, and the fact that we bounced off it with any kind of authority tells me there’s real buying interest in that zone. But here’s the thing. We didn’t break $65,025. We got close, we sniffed it, and then we backed off. That’s the behavior of a market that’s still deciding which way it wants to commit.
Support is stacking up nicely though. First line at $63,880, and if that gives way we’ve got $63,609 sitting just below as a secondary floor. That’s a tight enough band that a flush through both would take us into new short-term territory, and that’s when things get interesting. But I’m not buying that scenario yet. The bid underneath feels too solid.
Resistance at $65,025 is the wall. Break that with volume and the next stop is $65,462, which is where the last swing high lives. That’s the level that actually matters for the bigger picture. If we clear $65,462, the bears are going to have a rough rest of the week. If we stall below $65,025 again, we’re just chopping inside a range and that’s fine, it’s just not exciting.
Volume profile’s been telling me something subtle. The push up to the high came on lighter participation than the dip down to the low. That’s not a great sign for the bulls. It suggests the move higher is being driven by short covering rather than fresh accumulation, and short covering runs out of steam fast. And once it does, you need real buyers to step in and take over. We haven’t seen that yet.
Honestly, I’m not buying this bounce with conviction. It’s a decent bounce, don’t get me wrong. But the structure underneath it is still a little fragile. We’ve had a couple of fakeouts in the past week that burned people who got too aggressive too early, and I think the market’s still paying for that. The range is tightening though, and tight ranges eventually resolve.
When they resolve, they usually do it fast. So the play here is to wait. Let the market pick a side. If we take out $65,025 with some real volume behind it, I’ll get long with a stop under the recent swing low. If we lose $63,880, then the bears have control and I’ll look to fade into any bounce that can’t reclaim it.
One thing I’ll say for the bulls, the fact that we held $63,880 on the first test is meaningful. It’s a level that’s been tested before and it’s holding. That consistency matters more than the headline price sometimes. Repeated defense of a level builds a stronger floor than a one-off spike off it.
Timing-wise we’re heading into the weekend in a couple of days, and that always brings a bit of a liquidity vacuum. Thin books, wider spreads, and the occasional violent move on low volume. So I’m not chasing anything today. The setup is there, but the risk-reward isn’t screaming at me yet.
My lean is that we eventually break to the upside. The broader trend on the daily chart is still constructive, and these consolidations within an uptrend tend to resolve higher more often than not. But that’s a probabilistic view, not a certainty. Which is why I’m keeping my position sizing modest and my stops tight.
For now, $64,630 is a fair middle ground. Not a terrible place to be if you’re already in, not a great place to be entering fresh. The real action happens at the edges, at $63,880 and $65,025. That’s where the game gets decided. I’ll be watching those two numbers like a hawk for the rest of the session.
